Jade, why did you decide to try your hand at architecture?

I’ve been working with Tom Bartlett (creative director of the project “Limra – Jade Jagger for Yoo”) for several years now. We met when I was working at Garrard, and I moved from working with them in the jewelry sphere to architecture projects – at a certain moment I wanted to try interior design as well as jewelry design. It was a gradual transition.

What are the distinguishing features of the project in Finike, and what is the main idea behind it?

The basis was my house on Ibiza, and I used a part of my own home which I love, and which I designed together with Tom. The architecture in the project is interesting: the houses form two squares, and in the center of each one is a swimming pool. The main idea is that people live separately from each other, but at the same time it’s like a commune. Also, the design is based on a combination of different textures, patterns and materials. The architectural concept can be described as a mixture of traditional styles (naturally styles that are characteristic for Turkey) with innovative concepts in the spirit of Philippe Starck: modern lines, colors and surfaces… The complex is 10 minutes walk from the ocean, and there will be bars on the shore, and tennis courts and restaurants are planned on the territory of the complex… Generally, there’ll be everything that people need for their leisure time.

The nature in Finike is unique: not only can you always see the ocean, but also the mountains where you can go skiing, it only takes half an hour to reach them. It’s also famous for its orange groves. Their blossoms are pleasing to the eye, and they smell wonderful.

You recently began selling designer clothes in Moscow. What place does this business have in your life?

I launched my own line of designer clothes because I wanted to create items that I couldn’t find from other designers. At the moment I’m still working in this business, but they are more individual items – for me, my friends and clients, the circle is very small. I like this business, but I can’t say that it has a serious, important place in my life, because I’m mainly a designer of jewelry and interiors. But as a renaissance man, or rather a renaissance woman, I like trying out a lot of different things.

What else would you like to try in your life?

I’d like to get into art. It’s something I started doing at one stage, and I’d like to return to it.
