Legendary productions and names of the 20th Century
The program “Legendary productions and names of the 20th century” was first held in 2005. The project brings together theatrical productions that have become part of world theater history.
In March 2009, the “Golden Mask” will present three productions in Moscow: “Sylvie Guillem Russell Maliphant PUSH” – a solo program by the great French dancer Silvie Gullem, “Impressing the Czar” by the Royal Ballet of Flanders, staged by famous choreographer William Forsythe, and “Last Touch First” by the Dutch star of modern dance Jiri Kylian.
PUSH 14-15.03.2009
Sadler’s Wells theater, London in cooperation with Russell Maliphant and Slyvie Guillem Push brings together four short productions which Guillem and Maliphant perform solo or as in a couple. The name Push justifies itself in the literal sense – a push that makes another body move, and in the sense of an incredible physical effort that means the overcoming of obstacles in the widest sense of this word.
Original version of the ballet belongs to Sadler’s Wells Theater, London.
World premiere held on 30 September 2005. Music used with permission of the Carlos Montoya foundation.
Last Touch First 27-28.03.2009
Michael Schumacher, Sabina Kupferberg, Jiri Kylian and the Dutch dance festival “Last Touch First” is a personal and stunning production where desperation, madness and loneliness lie at the bases of the personalities of the six characters. For almost an hour the dancers exist in slow motion. They are plunged into the atmosphere of the 19th century, reminiscent of the grotesque plays of Anton Chekhov.
Artists: Sabina Kupferberg, Michael Schumacher, Cora Bos-Kroese, Esther Natzil, David Krugel, Vaclav Kunes.
Impressing The Czar 29.03.2009
Royal Ballet of Flanders
Ballet in four parts
Music: Tom Willems, Lesley Stack, Eva Grossman-Hekt, Ludwig van Beethoven
Choreography: William Forsythe
The premiere of “Impressing the Cazr” by the Frankfurt ballet troupe was held in 1988 at the Pepsico Summerfare Festival, New York.
In 2005, the ballet became part of the repertoire of the Royal Ballet of Flanders on the initiative of the new director of the theater, a pupil of Forsythe.
