The 3rd TERRITORIYA international school-festival

The international multicultural school-festival "TERRITORIYA" will be held in Moscow for the third time in October 2008. It will be following its usual motto: "ART NOW". The experimental programme “Territoriya’2008”, like it has done in the past, combines different kinds of contemporary art: theatre, music, dance and new media, As is traditional, the festival's programme has two parts: “Art Now” and “Art Tomorrow”.

“Territoriya’2008: Art Now” presents shows of newsmakers from leading European festivals. The famous French choreographer and director Joseph Nadj brings his new dance show “Intermission". The unique Korean theatre Workshop of Movement “Sadari” will be coming to Moscow for the first time. The troupe, which specialises in “physical theatre”, will be showing its latest premier: “Woyzeck” based on the play by Georg Buchner.

This year, “Territoriya” has prepared numerous special events, including: the two-part premiere of Dmitri Krimov’s workshop new production “OPUS 7” (1. "Lineage” and 2. “Shostakovich”) and the premiere of Alla Sigalova's choreographic show "Poor Lisa" to the music of Leonid Desyatnikov's opera of chamber music.

Once again, “Territoriya'2008” will present a unique musical programme prepared by its director, the conductor Theodor Kurentzisy. The height of the musical programme, and in fact of the whole festival, will be an exclusive event: the world premiere of two pieces, written specially for the festival: Greek composer Andreas Mustukis’ stage cantata “Goddesses out of a Machine” and Alexei Syumak’s opera “Station”. The presentation will only be held four times, on October 10th and 11th, in the vaulted basements of the Main Wine Storage of the VINZAVOD Centre of Contemporary Art.

“Territoriya-2008: Art Tomorrow” is a programme of master classes, lectures, video showings and meetings. This year, for the students of the Russian theatre schools (participants and free audience of the festival), there will be unique master classes taught by: the Bulgarian director and winner of the 2008 Moscow International Film Festival Yavor Gyrdev, actresses Alla Demidova and Katya Benjamin (UK), directors and choreographers Joseph Nadj (France), Dzio Kanamori (Japan) and Amal Allana (India), conductor Theodor Kurentzis and director and choreographer Dmitri Krymov.
