Project Translation. Video art from the public collections of France

At the doors of the ‘Year of France’ in Russia, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents the newest creations of French video art. This is the first time Russia sees such a grand-scale and high-level exhibition dedicated exclusively to French video art. The idea of the organizers is that this project should show new sides of French culture to Russians and that it should be a huge contribution to the development of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The pieces of French video art selected for this exhibition by the curator Olivier Michelon are fine examples of the most varied trends in current art in France. 11 works from the largest museum collections in France come together under the theme of ‘movement’, both real and symbolical. Laurent Grasso makes an ominous, dark cloud glide through the empty streets of Paris. Guillaume Leblon finds himself moving while filming, crossing flooded land. Jan Kopp, Anri Sala and Brice Dellsberger turn to the problems of the mixture of languages, cultures and genres.
