Two Centuries of British Fashion
From the 5th of September till the 16th of November, 2008
The historic collection of men and women's clothes from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, will be exhibited for the first time in the Kremlin's Odnostolpaya Palace. It shows the main stages in the evolution of British fashion over more than two centuries. The exhibition comprises exquisite dresses from the rococo period; rare images of typical English court and home dresses from the 18th century; outdoor dresses and clothes; transparent, flowing tunics from the so-called "naked" period and fancy capes and fur coats from the 19th century. The undisputable gem of the exhibition are the accessories, which include magnificent fans, miniature umbrellas, shawls, finely embroidered men and women's slippers, hats and hand-made lace of outstanding quality.
