The 6th "Moscow Premiere" Moscow festival of Russian
The 6th "Moscow Premiere" Moscow festival of Russian cinema will take place from 7th till 15th September, 2008 (a series of presentation events will be commencing on August 27). The festival’s films will be shown at the following venues: Dom kino (Main and White halls); the "Eldar” cinema club; the S. M. Eisenstein Library of Cinema Art; the "Muzeon" Park of Arts; as well as cinemas specializing in children’s cinema, where the programme "Our New Children's Cinema" will be taking place.
The festival includes competitions: "The Magnificent Seven of the Moskovskiy Komsomolets Newspaper", "Our New Children’s Cinema" and "Art-liniya" (which will feature premieres of full-length feature films and documentaries and a programme of short films), as well as "Eurasian Panorama" with the best premiere films from CIS countries, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. As is traditional, the "Moscow Premiere’s”main special event will be an evening of coming films. The festival has two new programmes-retrospectives prepared: “Seven Dedications. 20th Century" (mini retrospective of classics of Russian cinema, including Zhankonov, Eisenstein, Kuleshov, Tarkovsky) and "Seven Dedications. 21st Century" (mini retrospective of cultural personalities of contemporary Russian cinema, including Alexei Balabanov, Andrei Zvyatintsev, Renata Litvinova, Evgenii, Mironov and Vitali Mansky).
The retrospectives commemorate a hundred years of Russian cinema, and the premiere of the first Russian film "Stenka Razin and the Princess", and will be shown in October, 2008. As well as all this there will be commemorative sessions in honour of Nonna Mordiukovaya, Sofiko Chiaureli and Nadezhda Rumyantsevaya. Opening film (September 7, 7pm, Dom kino): participant in the main competition of the festival "The Magnificent Seven of the Moskovskiy Komsomolets Newspaper" Roman Balayan’s "Birds of Paradise" (took part in the 30th Moscow International Film Festival). Closing film (September 15, 7.30pm, Dom kino): Premiere of Filipp Yankovsky’s film "Stone Head". Participants in this year’s festival include the following films: Mikhail Kalatozishvili's "Wild Field" (first showing in Moscow), Sergei Govorukhin’s "No One, Except for Us" (first showing in Moscow), Ekaterina Shagalova’s "Once Upon a Time in a Province", Stanislav Govorukhin's "Passenger" (first showing in Moscow) and Kirill Serebrennikov's "St. George's Day".
