The Moscow State Big Circus was opened on 30 April 1971. It was and still is the only circus of its kind in the world. The auditorium consists of a 36metre high amphitheatre and 23 rows (3.400 places). There are 5 removable arenas in a huge machinery hall, which is 18 metres deep. During a lot of the shows, the circus uses all five of the arenas equine, ice, water, illusionary and light.
