The ticket offices in the Bol’shoi Theatre (Main stage and New Stage) work every day from 11am till 9pm (with a lunch break from 2pm and 3pm).
Designed and built in 1825 by Osip Bove. Was rebuilt after the fire and re opened in 1856.
The Bol’shoi Theatre is the most famous theatre in Russia. It’s main aim is to familiarise the widest public possible with the classic art of ballet and opera. At present, the theatre’s repertoire includes the ballets: “The Limpid Stream” and “The Bolt” by D. Shostakovich, “Swan Lake” by P. Tchaikovsky, “Cinderella” by S. Prokofev, “Karmen-suite” by R. Shedrin; and the operas “Eugene Onegin” and “Iolanta” by P. Tchaikovsky, “The Tsar’s Bride” and “Snowmaiden” by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, “The Fiery Angel” and “War and Peace” by Prokovief, "Macbeth" and “Nabucco” by G. Verdi, and “Tosca” by G. Puccini. The theatre also stages symphonic concerts. The musical director and principal conductor is Alexandr Vedernikov.
At present only the box-offices next to the New Stage are open.
